Fiela, now Tali · Forever home found through Cheeky Beaks.
#WelcomeHomeWednesday
Fiela found her forever home.
A loving home. A new beginning.
Fiela, now called Tali, is settling into her new home and is being introduced slowly to Gus, a 25-year-old African Grey. Her adoption included Cheeky Beaks’ screening process, dedicated foster care, an avian veterinary check and microchipping.
“Thank you Cheeky Beaks for entrusting me with Fiela, now Tali, the African Grey. He is settling in nicely and being slowly introduced to Gus, an African Grey, 25 years old. The adoption went very smooth. I am impressed with your screening process. Thank you, Adelé. Also a big thank you to Nazmie for fostering and your excellent care of my new baby. The avian vet, Dr Coetzee de Beer, gave him a clear bill of health and said he is in excellent health. He has now been microchipped as well.”
Thank you to Fiela’s adopter, Adelé, foster parent Nazmie, Cheeky Beaks and everyone who helped make this happy ending possible.

Brandi is a Blue-and-Gold Macaw who is around 26 years old. Before reaching safety, she lived in an environment affected by drugs and alcohol, received an unsuitable human-food diet and experienced lasting physical and psychological trauma. At some point, she began plucking her feathers.
Feather plucking can have many underlying causes, including medical problems, nutritional deficiencies, skin irritation, pain, stress, anxiety, boredom and psychological trauma. A bird showing signs of plucking should be assessed by a qualified avian veterinarian so possible medical causes can be investigated.
Brandi found her forever home at Brainy Birds, where she has lived in safety for many years. She receives enrichment, companionship, fresh fruit and vegetables, and the care she needs for arthritis. Her feathers may carry evidence of her past, but Brandi is loved, safe and enjoying life as a parrot.
Brandi’s story reminds us that although we cannot undo the past, patience, understanding and love can transform a bird’s future.
Princess is a Congo African Grey estimated to be more than 40 years old. Her face carries visible reminders of her past, but those differences do not define her story.
According to the supplied Brainy Birds story, Princess received medical attention, specialised treatment and nourishment after entering their care. She has been assessed by an avian veterinarian and is described as comfortable, healthy and able to breathe comfortably despite her facial deformity.
Today, she is surrounded by people who love and care for her. Her journey celebrates the patience, knowledge and compassion that can give a rescued bird a happier future.
Her story also highlights the importance of appropriate nutrition. For advice about your own bird’s diet or health, speak to an avian veterinarian.
